Overview
Regulatory and policy advocacy on behalf of gas distribution companies in interstate pipeline rate and tariff filings and other natural gas policy matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to enable the Company’s clean energy vision while also ensuring reliable and affordable deliveries of natural gas to our service territories.
Monitoring of and participation in interstate natural gas rate and tariff proceedings
Participation in rate and tariff settlement negotiations with interstate natural gas pipelines
Development of wholesale natural gas market regulatory strategy and stakeholder engagement with interstate pipelines, peer gas utilities, federal/state regulators to advance strategic priorities
Serving as Company liaison to American Gas Association’s FERC Regulatory Committee
Communicate and strategic coordination with NY/MA public utility commission staff on FERC/wholesale natural gas matters
Participation in internal, cross-functional regulatory strategy efforts related to achievement of the Company’s clean energy vision and ensuring the reliability of gas deliveries
Policy advocacy at FERC and other federal agencies to develop a regulatory framework that will facilitate the decarbonization of the Company’s gas distribution businesses and the upstream value chain
Opportunity for cross-training and participation in NY wholesale electric market regulatory strategy work
Bachelor’s degree
~3-5 years of post-graduation experience in the energy and/or utilities space
~ Specific experience with natural gas wholesale markets, energy policy, and/or gas distribution system operations strongly preferred
~ Excellent interpersonal skills, including influence, communication, and project management
~ Capable of effectively informing and influencing senior management and external bodies
~ Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Excel modeling and analysis
~ Travel as required (10% of the time)
