JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Altoona invites applications for a part-time instructor opportunity to teach CAS100A Effective Speech for the Fall 2024 Semester. The start date for this appointment is August 2024, and the one-semester contract is renewable.
Job Duties:
- The successful candidate will teach pragmatic principles of communication as part of Penn State's general education curriculum, focusing on speech preparation and delivery, with some attention to small group discussion and message analysis.
- Instructors may also explore the role of speech in civic and political discourse, specific professional speech genres, or rhetoric strategies in new media or other contexts, depending on their course focus.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a master's degree or higher in a relevant field or possess comparable practical experience in public speaking instruction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
