Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate the news gathering process and ensure comprehensive coverage of stories.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with assignment desk personnel.
- Generate daily, enterprise, and evergreen story ideas.
- Monitor scanners, wires, internet sites, and social media for breaking news.
- Develop contacts within the community for news stories.
- Coordinate logistics for field coverage and dispatch crews.
- Make editorial decisions on stories and support producers with information gathering.
- Coordinate news content and interviews, and work on story/sweeps planning.
- Conduct investigative research and generate story ideas.
This position offers benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and discounts. Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience as an Assignment Editor, Reporter, or Producer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Willing to work in Washington, D.C.
- Unrestricted work authorization in the U.S.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays.
