We are a rapidly growing SaaS company serving the life sciences and biotechnology sector, helping research organizations accelerate innovation by transforming raw scientific data into AI-ready assets. Our platform is designed to support complex scientific workflows while meeting the highest standards of data integrity, usability, and compliance. We are seeking an experienced Staff UX Designer to lead the strategic design of user experiences that drive meaningful engagement and scientific impact.
Role Overview
As a Staff UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience across our platform, ensuring that scientific and technical users can intuitively navigate, analyze, and act on complex data. You will lead cross-functional collaboration with product managers, engineers, scientists, and AI researchers to build experiences that are not only functional and compliant—but also elegant, efficient, and empowering.
You will be responsible for crafting user-centric solutions for sophisticated data workflows, AI-driven insights, and lab automation features—bridging the gap between powerful technology and human understanding in the scientific domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end UX design initiatives across multiple product lines
- Conduct user research with scientists, data engineers, and lab professionals to understand core needs and pain points
- Translate complex scientific and AI-powered workflows into intuitive wireframes, interaction models, and high-fidelity prototypes
- Define UX patterns and guidelines that support consistency, accessibility, and usability at scale
- Partner with product and data teams to integrate AI interfaces that enhance scientific decision-making
- Facilitate design reviews, usability testing, and feedback loops with internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor junior designers and evangelize design best practices across the organization
- 10+ years of experience in UX design, including experience leading projects in SaaS or data-driven platforms
- Proven experience designing interfaces for AI-powered tools or intelligent systems
- Previous work in or with the life sciences, biotech, or healthcare industries—familiarity with scientific workflows is essential
- Strong proficiency with modern UX tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.) and rapid prototyping
- Demonstrated ability to lead design strategy, user research, and cross-functional collaboration
- Deep understanding of usability, accessibility, and human-centered design principles
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Greater Boston area
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g. GxP, HIPAA, FDA-compliant environments)
- Familiarity with lab information management systems (LIMS), electronic lab notebooks (ELNs), or scientific computing platforms
- Experience designing interfaces that visualize complex datasets or AI model outputs
