Are you a Meteorologist who also likes news, community affairs, and meeting people? WMBB-TV News 13 is looking for someone like you to handle a unique position that combines both interests. You’ll begin your day as a live reporter for our morning newscast, News 13 This Morning. Then, you’ll present the weather forecast during News 13 Midday from 11:00 am to noon. Additionally, you’ll serve as the principal fill-in for our morning meteorologist. This role offers extensive experience in the weather center and field reporting. If this sounds like you, apply now.
WMBB is the Nexstar-owned ABC and CW affiliate for Panama City and the Florida Panhandle. You’ll be living in a beautiful beach community where hundreds of thousands of people vacation. The responsibilities include:
- Producing and presenting weather/news reports for all platforms.
- Ensuring all content meets journalistic standards and quality.
- Writing and delivering clear, concise weather/news stories.
- Assisting in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating programming.
- Responding to breaking and severe weather events and urgent situations.
- Collaborating with the weather team for comprehensive coverage.
- Participating in promotional activities and public appearances.
- Writing daily web stories on the local forecast.
- Engaging with viewers and users on social media.
- The MMVJ component involves reporting three days a week.
- Reporting on web and social media, shooting pictures, and editing stories from start to finish.
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Entry-level to 2 years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.
- Ability to shoot video, perform non-linear editing, and write complete stories. Knowledge of ENPS is helpful.
- Proficiency with Barron’s Radar is advantageous.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong understanding of Meteorology and forecasting skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
