Senior R & D Engineer (Standard Cell Library Design)

Senior R&D Engineer for our Logic Library Group in Sunnyvale, CA.

We're looking for a Standard Cell Library Designer to join the team.

Synopsys is hiring a Senior R&D Engineer for our Logic Library Group in Sunnyvale, CA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the following areas:

1. Bachelors or MSEE or equivalent from reputed universities
2. 7+ years of experience in Standard Cell library design.
3. Ability and willingness to do hands-on development as well as mentoring and coaching junior R&D engineers to expand their skills.
4. Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed R&D teams, and to engage in cross-functional collaborations for optimization across the entire design chain.
5. Effectively articulate ideas and requests to drive such collaborations.
6. Must have working experience on advanced technology nodes like 7nm, 6nm, 5nm, 4nm, and 3nm.
7. Hands-on experience in Circuit Design, Layout Design & spice simulations.
8. Experience in designing flip-flops, clock gating cells, level shifters, power gating cells, and other complex circuits.
9. Clear understanding of CMOS device characteristics and design rules in submicron process nodes.
10. Knowledge of submicron process issues, especially in FINFET technologies.
11. Familiarity with running high sigma variation analysis in smaller technology nodes.
12. Experience in standard cell circuit optimization to achieve better PPA.
13. Familiarity with layout design and experience working with layout designers to optimize layout parasitic to achieve target PPA.
14. Involvement in layout extraction and understanding of layout-dependent parameters in the extracted netlist.
15. Understanding of timing/leakage characterization of Standard cells.
16. Scripting capability in TCL/PERL/Python.
17. Strong analytical and logical skills.

The salary range for this role in the U.S. is $155,000–$233,000, with potential for bonuses, equity, and other benefits. Compensation depends on factors like location, skills, experience, and education. More details can be provided upon request.
