Santa Monica Studio - the team behind the legendary "God of War" franchise - is looking for a senior technical artist to join our Procedural Technical Art team. This is a great chance to get on board with a storied studio and an amazing team.
The team's mission is simple : to enable our artist colleagues to create immersive worlds. We provide advanced procedural tools to help artists iterate and explore. We build pipelines to automate drudgework and low-value tasks, helping our artists focus on art. We also make sure that optimizing our games for runtime efficiency doesn't get in the way of creativity and inspiration.
We're looking for an experienced procedural artist who is as interested in people as they are in node networks somebody who can work closely with traditional 3d artists to understand their needs and to provide tools which empower them.
Responsibilities
Work closely with artists to understand their goals and workflows Design and deliver procedural tools which empower artists to build great content Participate in art asset reviews to help identify technical concerns or risks Mentor and guide team members in areas of expertise; instill best practices
Requirements
Experienced production artist with solid understanding of art fundamentals Deep understanding of artist workflows Effective collaborator and communicator Technically proficient at geometry processing and procedural generation in Houdini Self-supporting in Python and VEX
Preferred Experience
Shader programming Real time graphics optimization Procedural texturing (Substance or similar) Familiar with USD and / or MaterialX

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
