Position Summary:
Synergy
is seeking a
Web Developer/SharePoint Designer (Senior)
to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at the Aviation Logistics Center (ALC)-Information Systems Division (ISD). The Web Developer/SharePoint Designer (Senior) will lead enterprise SharePoint architecture and design, web development, and collaborative solutions that improve
logistics
, operational workflows, and enterprise knowledge management across USCG.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in modern SharePoint Online/2019 development, custom UI/UX design, metadata-driven content management, and workflow automation within a DevSecOps environment. This position will play a critical role in designing highly secure, scalable, and user-friendly digital workspaces that align with USCG's strategic goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Architect, develop, and sustain SharePoint-based solutions (SharePoint 2016/2019/Online) that enhance collaboration, data sharing, and mission effectiveness across the enterprise.
Design, create, and
maintain
responsive, user-centered websites, portals, dashboards, and intranet systems supporting USCG business processes.
Build custom SharePoint features, web parts, site templates, document libraries, metadata schemas, and workflows using Power Automate, Power Apps, and SharePoint Designer.
Integrate SharePoint with external systems, including Azure AD for authentication, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and mission-critical USCG applications.
Ensure modern branding and consistent UI/UX design in line with ALC-ISD's enterprise standards and usability best practices.
Maintain access controls and permission levels using AD-integrated SharePoint groups, ensuring role-based access control (RBAC) and alignment with cybersecurity requirements.
Provide technical leadership in the full SDLC using Agile and DevSecOps practices, including sprint planning, user story development, and backlog grooming in Jira.
Develop documentation, standard operating procedures, training materials, and system user guides for knowledge transfer and end-user enablement.
Perform system testing, performance tuning, change request implementation, and quality assurance to ensure reliable deployment and support.
Respond to help desk tickets, troubleshoot SharePoint and web-related issues, and deliver end-user support and training when needed.
Research emerging Microsoft 365 technologies, SharePoint Framework (SPFx) updates, and industry best practices to inform continuous platform improvement.
All other duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
Expert-level experience with SharePoint 2016/2019/Online, SharePoint Designer, Power Platform (Power Apps/Power Automate), and HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript.
Strong understanding of Azure AD integration, Active Directory roles/groups, and Microsoft
365
enterprise-level implementations.
Proven ability to build advanced forms, dynamic pages, and metadata-driven workflows using low-code/no-code and custom development techniques.
Familiarity with Kubernetes, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence within Agile/DevSecOps pipelines.
Excellent visual design skills and a user-focused mindset for crafting intuitive, accessible interfaces.
Experience implementing secure SharePoint solutions in compliance with DHS 4300A, NIST 800-53, and DoD cybersecurity controls.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's or
Associate's degree in Computer Science
, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Five (5) years of directly relevant experience may substitute for two (2) years of formal education.
Minimum of five (5)
years of experience with HTML,
JQuery
, Web Services, and SharePoint Designer.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience with Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an Agile DevSecOps software development environment and Methodologies.
Demonstrated experience working in support of federal government enterprise applications preferred.
Clearance:
U.S. citizenship
required
Must have or be eligible to obtain a Position of Public Trust or DoD Secret Clearance.
Certification Requirement:
CompTIA Security+
Additional
certifications (Network+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, ITIL Foundation, TOGAF, or other similar certifications) are a plus.
Work Location:
Elizabeth City, NC - On-Site - Hybrid
North Carolina Region - Must be available to work onsite two to three days a week.
