Overview
As the Electronic Computer-Aided-Design (ECAD) Designer: Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Parts Librarian, you will be responsible for curating and maintaining a database of schematic symbols and footprint libraries for all PCB layout projects. Your duties include developing PCB/CCA parts library elements such as electronic schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models using vendor datasheets, industry standards, and company guidelines. You will collaborate with design engineers, component engineers, and supply chain teams to create ECAD parts and ensure the parts database is current and accurate. Additionally, you will drive process decisions, automate workflows, and support the integration of our library with other internal tools.
Our corporate team provides strategic direction and business support across various functions including executive management, finance, operations, HR, legal, IT, security, facilities, marketing, and communications.
Responsibilities :
- Curate and maintain a PCB parts library/database of schematic symbols, footprints, and 3D models.
- Create and update schematic symbols for the PCB library from component vendor datasheets.
- Develop and maintain solder pad footprints for PCB library based on datasheets and IPC standards.
- Create and manage 3D models of PCB library parts for Mechanical Engineering use.
Qualifications You Must Have :
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with typically 2+ years of experience; higher degrees may substitute for experience.
- Associate's degree or related experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Understanding of engineering principles and practices.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Qualifications We Prefer :
- Experience in PCB and CCA library design, layout, or equivalent CAD library experience.
- Associate degree or certification in Graphics or Engineering Technology is desirable.
- Proficiency with PCB and CCA design software such as Cadence Allegro, Mentor Xpedition, and PADS.
- Knowledge of electrical components, datasheets, and schematics.
- Familiarity with industry standards like IPC, ASME, and ANSI.
