Talent Acquisition Specialist at Smiths Interconnect
The Radio Frequency Engineer will work in an integrated process team environment, with technical responsibility for all of the following, regarding RF/microwave/mmW hardware: research, architecture trades, estimating recurring and non-recurring hardware and activities, analysis, proposals, selection, development, prototyping, verification, customer support, manufacturing support, and sustainment. Must meet the requirement of being a U.S. citizen and willing to obtain a security clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Have technical responsibility for all aspects of the RF/microwave/mmW hardware within our products, inclusive of UHF through 40GHz.
- Participate in the entire product lifecycle for bespoke electronics modules, subsystems, and systems for the aerospace and defense market, including RADAR, EW, SIGINT, communication, and satcom.
- Work in an integrated process team (IPT) environment, collaborating with program management, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and other engineering disciplines.
- Perform activities related to RF/microwave/mmW hardware: research, architecture trades, estimating hardware and activities, analyzing circuits, writing technical proposals, selecting active and passive devices, designing substrates and PCBs, prototyping, verification, customer support, manufacturing support, and sustainment.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
- Proficiency in RF linear and non-linear circuit simulation using Cadence AWR or ADS.
- Experience with electromagnetic problems and simulation tools (2.5D and 3D).
- Experience designing multi-layer PWB up to 20 GHz.
- Experience with single-layer duroid and ceramic layouts up to 40 GHz.
- Experience with chip & wire/bare die design, interconnect, and modeling.
- Competence in analog DC, AC, and transient circuit simulation (SPICE).
- Experience with RF measurements and validation procedures.
Preferred:
- Experience with MMIC development up to 40 GHz.
- Knowledge of system architecture for up and down converters.
- Experience with RF system modeling using Cadence AWR VSS.
- Knowledge of frequency planning, mixer spurious analysis, phase noise, and hardware implementation methods.
- Familiarity with millimeter-wave electronics through 100 GHz.
- General knowledge of microwave sources, LNAs, SSPAs, mixers, filters, and synthesizers.
- Design of SSPAs ≥10W linear from C-band to Ka Band using GaN or GaAs devices.
Experience: 5-10 years in hardware development up to at least 20 GHz.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
Travel: Up to 10%, mainly within the U.S.
Security: Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain US DoD security clearance.
