Join us as an Operator 1, Programming Operations - Spectrum News 1 at Spectrum News. This entry-level, full-time role involves supporting live and pre-taped productions, operating technical equipment, and ensuring high-quality broadcast standards.
Position Overview
As part of Charter Communications, Spectrum News delivers local, regional, and sports news across multiple platforms, including TV, app, and connected TV. We aim to inform and engage communities with unbiased, original content 24/7.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate technical equipment such as lighting, video shading, audio, cameras, and robotic systems during productions.
- Support directors and technical directors during live and pre-recorded broadcasts.
- Maintain professional conduct and contribute positively to team dynamics.
- Participate in training to enhance technical skills.
- Complete administrative tasks like timecard entry and report generation.
- Assist with breaking news and last-minute programming changes.
- Represent the station professionally at all times.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Willing to learn technical workflows and operate various production equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of television production equipment, software, and streaming technologies.
- Understanding of studio production and post-production techniques.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel.
Education & Experience
- College diploma or degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Engineering, or related field, or 1-3 years equivalent experience.
Additional Details
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on location. Must be able to travel on short notice. The role involves sitting/standing for extended periods and operating computer equipment. On-call availability is required for 24/7 coverage. Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $33.85 per hour, based on skills and experience.
