We’re seeking an experienced UX/UI Researcher to join our Shop Team. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in shaping user experiences by translating complex research into actionable design insights. You'll collaborate closely with designers, engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to guide the design process and define the preferred user interface across products.
You’ll be instrumental in applying user-centered design principles, facilitating research, and documenting user journeys and interaction strategies. If you are passionate about understanding users and turning insights into compelling design direction, we want to hear from you.
Job Title: UI/UX Designer – UX Researcher
Location: Must be local to one of the following: Chicago, IL | Peoria, IL | Dallas, TX | Denver, CO | Raleigh/Cary, NC
Duration: 12 Months (Potential for Extension Based on Business Needs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and facilitate user research activities to guide UI/UX decisions.
- Translate research insights into clear, prioritized recommendations for UI design.
- Define and document UX strategies including UI principles, physical attributes, and key experience elements.
- Create UX artifacts such as journey maps, storyboards, and user flows.
- Collaborate with designers to define and test prototypes iteratively.
- Coordinate research needs based on the product roadmap and strategic priorities.
- Engage with product owners and designers to understand business and user needs.
- Present findings to internal teams and stakeholders with clarity and insight.
- Manage multiple research projects and competing deadlines efficiently.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in UX Research with a strong grasp of user-centered design practices, preferably in a corporate or B2B environment .
- Bachelor’s or higher in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, or related UX discipline (OR an additional 2–3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
- Proven experience with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Exceptional empathy and synthesis skills—ability to understand, document, and advocate for user and stakeholder needs.
- Agile and adaptive thinking—able to pivot with evolving product goals and collaborate flexibly.
- Strong command of UI best practices, visual design theory, and interaction design.
- Proficiency in UI design, layout, specification, and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
- A well-documented portfolio showcasing your UX research and design impact.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, time management, and organizational skills.
