Job Description
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is looking for an individual to teach VIS 601.1 Photography and Multimedia Fundamentals on Mondays and Tuesdays 10:00am-5:00pm and Wednesdays 9:30am-12:30pm during Summer Session II 2025 semester (June 30, 2025 – August 8, 2025). (3 credits).
Course Description: Instructor will provide the fundamentals of visual storytelling through photography, including the technical aspects of photography, composition, background control, layering and editing. Students will learn how to shoot, edit, work with image editing software, and collect sound and construct small multimedia packages.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree plus teaching experience is preferred.
- Applicants should have substantial photography experience.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
- Developing a syllabus.
- Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
- Preparing for classes.
- Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
- Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet.
- Ability to hold office hours on campus.
- Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
- Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
