Description:
Reports to the Director of Library and Media Services.
The Library Assistant position serves as the first point of contact for library users, greeting and assisting visitors promptly. The role requires excellent customer service skills and good problem-solving abilities.
The responsibilities include:
- Handling circulation functions such as checking materials in and out, fulfilling patron requests, and uploading student records to create new accounts.
- Monitoring reserves and holds on materials through the circulation system.
- Resolving patron account issues, including account holds.
- Generating circulation reports, overdue notices, and recalls.
- Assisting with room reservations and answering questions related to campus technologies, including printing, copying, and scanning.
- Supporting students with room reservations using LibCal.
- Serving as backup for processing interlibrary loan requests.
- Providing basic search assistance for library resources.
- Assisting in assembling and arranging displays.
- Maintaining a clean environment, stocking supplies, and coordinating with facilities as needed.
- Tracking usage statistics.
- Performing miscellaneous duties as assigned.
This position offers a flexible schedule with varying day, evening, and some weekend hours, typically working 6-10 hours per week based on the academic calendar and availability.
Wage is $15 per hour.
