Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a UX Designer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Herndon, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative aims to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework to better support the services provided to CA’s customers.
As part of the modernization program, the UX Designer will be responsible for a wide range of design activities and associated work artifacts, including user research & discovery, ideation, digital product concept design, and prototype development following a user-centered and design thinking approach.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Apply design thinking and user-centered design approaches to satisfy both explicit and implicit requirements from various user types.
- Conduct user research, such as requirements elicitation, field observations, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
- Facilitate product vision by creating wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes for digital products.
- Design adaptive and responsive product concepts & prototypes for web-based and mobile applications using modern design tools like Figma.
- Ensure digital solutions are compliant with 508 / Accessibility standards.
- Design digital solutions in accordance with the USWDS design system.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and at least eight (8) years of experience.
- Experience designing adaptive and responsive UX solutions for web and mobile-based applications.
- Experience designing solutions compliant with 508 / accessibility standards.
- Experience modernizing enterprise web and mobile software systems.
- Experience conducting user research, including requirements elicitation, field observations, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
- Background in Agile Software Development; skilled in developing detailed user stories with precise acceptance criteria.
- Knowledge of Agile tools like Jira, Git, and Jenkins.
- Proficiency with platforms such as Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, ProtoPie, Mural, and Axure.
- Experience with Design Systems like USWDS, Apple HIG, Google Material, IBM Carbon.
- Ability to obtain or hold an active Secret (or higher) clearance; interim clearances are acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing for the Salesforce low-code platform.
- Experience developing UX solutions within an Agile environment.
- Advanced knowledge of USWDS.
- Ability to articulate and support design decisions effectively.
- Advanced experience using Figma.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This range reflects typical compensation based on experience and other factors.
