Essential Functions
Under the general direction of the Director or Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, and in coordination with the Associate Director of Athletics - Operations, the Public Address Announcer/Broadcaster assists with engagement and communication during sporting events:
- PA Announcer: Deliver announcements at games/events, including starting lineups, game action, promotions, and relevant information to ensure an engaging atmosphere.
- Broadcaster: Serve as the voice of the athletics department across video, radio, and online platforms. Responsibilities include scripting, conveying information, conducting interviews, operating equipment, and managing pre-game, in-game, and post-game activities.
Both roles involve gathering and sharing sports information and statistics, maintaining contact with NCAA athletic programs, and supporting media, website content, social media, and game operations to promote the teams and athletic department.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency and willingness to adhere to NCAA and Conference rules.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with website content management and statistics software.
- Strong time management skills and knowledge of sports communication trends.
- Understanding of various sports rules.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends.
- Bachelor’s Degree or extensive related experience required.
Work hours vary based on sports schedules.
