Vast is looking for a highly motivated Video Engineer, reporting to the Principal Engineer, Video Production and Streaming, to assist with various aspects of A/V and video production, including setting up and maintaining broadcast equipment, conference room systems, LED video walls, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with other departments on specialty projects. You will be a key member who will help complete A/V and broadcast systems from design to execution and support.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Key Responsibilities
- Broadcast Operations & Support
- Assist in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of broadcast systems including cameras, switchers, audio consoles, and streaming platforms.
- Provide live production support for internal and external broadcasts.
- Maintain and repair broadcast equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conference Room & AV Systems
- Install, configure, and support AV systems in conference rooms (displays, microphones, control systems, video conferencing codecs, etc.).
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on all AV equipment to ensure minimal downtime.
- Assist with user training and provide support for in-room and remote meetings.
- LED Walls & Specialty Projects
- Support the design, setup, and maintenance of LED walls and other display technologies.
- Collaborate with creative, facilities, and technical teams to deliver custom AV solutions for events and installations.
- General
- Maintain accurate records of system drawings, configurations, changes, and maintenance.
- Work with vendors and contractors as needed for system upgrades or special projects.
- Participate in weekend, after-hours support and on-call rotations as required.
- Maintain communication with customers and stakeholders, informing them of incident progress via thorough ticket documentation and the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, AV Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of experience in broadcast or AV engineering roles preferred (internships or part-time roles count!).
- Familiarity with broadcast systems (Evertz, Grass Valley, Blackmagic, Ross, etc.) and various streaming technologies (RTMP, NDI, SRT).
- Basic understanding of AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS) and video conferencing platforms (Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms).
- Experience or exposure to LED display technology and large-format video walls a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with a customer-service mindset.
- Ability to travel locally and internationally as needed.

- Experience with network technology including video and audio over IP (e.g., Dante/AES).
- Ability to establish and build healthy working relationships with peers, customers, vendors, and suppliers.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, both oral and written.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Willing to work in a fast-paced global environment where regional travel might be required.
