Instructor of Visual Art: Description and Responsibilities
The Instructor of Visual Art is responsible for teaching foundational artistic skills, understanding, and theory across multiple grade levels. The instructor will:
- Work with fellow Art faculty to establish an appropriate skill acquisition sequence.
- Teach students proper techniques using high-quality, artist-grade materials (including crayon, pastel, watercolor, pencil, pen, clay, wax, and more).
- Assist in implementing Fine Art showcases, competitions, and the school's Fine Arts Night.
- Model and promote an understanding of art history and foster a love and appreciation for the visual arts.
- Establish and maintain a syllabus outlining goals, learning outcomes, and expected student achievements for the year.
- Maintain grade books for all students, updating grades and comments biweekly or more often.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., BFA in Visual Arts) required. Teaching experience in a classical, Charlotte Mason, or Waldorf school is preferred. Extensive personal and/or professional experience working with children. Excellent rapport with students of all ages. Strong understanding of The Saint Constantine School’s educational ethos and values.

- Salary: Full-time, exempt, twelve months
- Hours Per Week: 40
