Were a close-knit team that values clarity, warmth, and high standards — and we’re growing intentionally. About the Role This is not your typical design position. As our Lead Designer & Project Manager , you’ll guide projects from the first site walk to the final plant in the ground (or pot). You’ll lead client relationships, develop planting plans, estimate jobs, and prepare our internal teams with everything they need to succeed. You’ll collaborate directly with the Principal as a thought partner in design — and work with a highly capable field team that values preparation, clarity, and flow. What You’ll Do Lead client consultations for both landscapes and interiorscapes Develop design concepts using a “look and feel” approach — moodboards, palettes, and planting concepts Use CAD, SketchUp, or other digital tools as needed to communicate layouts and support the install team Produce estimates for new projects and refreshes for existing clients (indoor and outdoor) Source plants, pottery, and specialty materials in partnership with our procurement team Prepare detailed work orders including materials, labor, and timeline notes Collaborate with our Foreman and Operations Manager to support seamless execution Manage change orders or design tweaks with responsiveness and clarity Carry design integrity and thoughtful decision-making from start to finish What You Bring 3+ years of experience in landscape design, with some project management experience A strong “look and feel” design instinct with comfort in building visual narratives Working knowledge of CAD, SketchUp, or similar tools to support client and team communication Great plant knowledge (indoor and outdoor), sourcing experience, and a refined eye Clear communicator who thrives in collaboration Bonus if youre fluent in Google Workspace, Asana, or job-tracking tools Why You’ll Love Working With Us Clients who trust your vision A Principal who respects your process and partners with you creatively A collaborative team that believes in clarity, kindness, and craftsmanship Support staff for procurement, admin, and execution No micromanaging, no late-night chaos — just intentional work that matters To Apply : Please send your résumé, portfolio, and a short note about your design process or favorite project to : Design, Art / Creative, and Information Technology Design Services Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at The Gardenista by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Designer Project Lead” roles.
