Job Description:
Primary Responsibility
Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Library Services, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Campus Vice President or designee, the Learning Commons Coordinator and Open Educational Resources (OER)/Cataloging Librarian oversees college-wide initiatives related to OER adoption, ensures the accuracy and accessibility of library cataloging, and manages the campus Learning Commons operations. This role provides innovative learning resources, technologically enhanced learning spaces, tutoring, food services, and testing.
This position supports the college's mission to serve and enhance the vitality of the Rocky Mountain region by welcoming learners, delivering relevant education, and fostering strategic collaboration and innovation.
The role serves both public and campus communities, supervising and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to provide exemplary learning services that promote student success.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with five years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with seven years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of cataloging standards (e.g., AACR2, RDA) and library classification systems (e.g., Library of Congress, Dewey Decimal) preferred.
- Experience in an academic library setting, with library cataloging/metadata, instruction, and OER experience preferred.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and managerial skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within deadlines and budgets.
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Promoting campus learning and library services, collaborating with the online library.
- Leading assessment and continuous improvement of the Learning Commons.
- Supervising staff, faculty, and students to ensure effective service delivery.
- Interacting with students to foster an innovative learning mindset.
- Developing procedures, managing budgets, and leading library operations.
- Guiding information literacy instruction and discipline-specific services.
- Building community partnerships.
- Leading OER initiatives: adoption, development, faculty training, and partnerships.
- Ensuring proper cataloging of resources.
Supervision and Conditions:
- Reports to the campus VP and Associate Dean of Library Services.
- Supervises staff across various roles.
- Background check required; travel, evenings, and weekends may be necessary.
- Work involves sitting, walking, standing, driving, lifting, and using office equipment.
