Job Summary
Join us at KBR as a Technical Writer, where you'll be responsible for researching, developing, and updating content for manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and technical procedure documents using software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Arbortext, and FrameMaker. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare technical documentation according to Military Specifications such as MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD-38784, including layout and organization.
- Read engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Coordinate graphic development for technical publications and prepare illustrated parts breakdown/exploded view diagrams for uploading into the NPA graphics storage area.
- Gather and research technical information, including engineering and development data, for documentation.
- Interact with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Programmers as part of a courseware production team.
- Review, edit, and proofread materials written by others, providing suggested revisions.
- Handle GFE materials, sensitive documents, and equipment with discretion and safety.
- Prepare various types of technical documentation for ground combat systems, providing guidance for operation, evaluation, maintenance, and repair parts support.
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen eligible for a Security Clearance and a Common Access Card (CAC).
- High School Diploma required; BA/BS preferred.
- 0-5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with XML and/or SGML editing.
- Experience with U.S. Army IADS is a plus.
- Ability to review, edit, and guide others' technical materials.
- Experience coordinating graphic development for technical publications.
- Ability to research and gather technical information.
- Experience handling sensitive GFE and GFI materials safely.
- Proficiency in preparing technical documentation for ground combat systems using relevant software.
- Experience collaborating with Subject Matter Experts and production teams.
- Experience preparing military-standard technical documentation and coordinating layout and organization.
