A Lot About You

We seek an experienced health writer and editor with subject matter expertise in the medical field, holding credentials such as a doctor, nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician's assistant. The role involves creating and updating content in the physical health/conditions space, including product reviews, comparison articles, and news pieces on topics like men's/women's health, pain management, arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, vision, hearing, dental health, medical devices, and seasonal illnesses.

You will collaborate with freelancers, utilize SEO best practices, and ensure content meets Yahoo’s editorial standards. The position can be fully remote or based at Yahoo offices across the US.

Responsibilities

1. Pitch, write, and produce well-researched health articles promptly.
2. Update existing top-performing health content to ensure currency and quality.
3. Contribute to content for major events and health awareness topics.
4. Manage freelance contributors on specific health topics.
5. Create engaging, balanced content that respects our users.
6. Optimize content for search engines using SEO best practices.
7. Follow Yahoo's style and voice guidelines.
8. Assist with sourcing and testing physical health products.

Requirements

1. Medical credentials (nursing, medicine, pharmacy) with subject matter expertise.
2. At least 5 years of experience in health content creation.
3. At least 2 years of editing experience in health topics.
4. 2+ years of experience in commerce content.
5. Based in the United States.
6. Exceptional writing and editing skills.
7. Strong editorial judgment and familiarity with style standards.
8. Conversational writing style.
9. Experience with CMS platforms.
10. Willingness to work unconventional hours, including weekends and holidays.
11. Self-motivated, eager to learn, and goal-oriented.
12. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
13. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
14. Team player with a reader-centric approach.
