Overview
Space Exploration is seeking an experienced project manager to oversee multiple new and ongoing projects. Fluency in all aspects of the interior design of complex residential and hospitality projects is a significant advantage. We are a design-focused firm specializing in sensitively detailed adaptive reuse projects infused with warmth, character, and modern flourishes. Our small, integrated team values every voice and promotes a meritocratic environment. We are looking for a new colleague who shares our outlook to join our team. The project manager will have an impeccable eye for organization and a keen sensitivity to budget and schedule. Responsibilities include managing design and coordination duties to ensure our most important and complex projects run smoothly. This role is creativity-driven, technically-focused, practicality-minded, and client-facing. Duties include delegating and overseeing design work by intermediate and junior designers, managing all aspects of consultant and vendor coordination, creating and managing schedules and budgets, tracking submittals, and managing RFI submittals and SK logs. The project manager reports to the principal and manages intermediate and junior design staff. The ideal candidate should have at least four years of experience with design and coordination. Nimble design skills and strong construction administration experience are essential. Fluency or familiarity with code compliance and a good understanding of NYC-based AHJs are important. Licensure is a plus. Candidates with significant experience in complex projects will be prioritized. It is important that the successful candidate resides in New York City or within daily commuting distance, as regular onsite presence and in-person meetings with clients, contractors, vendors, and team members are required. We offer flexibility to work from home or at our office, depending on project needs. Our offices are located in an airy, high-ceilinged loft on the Greenpoint waterfront. We occasionally meet at the office for internal design reviews and client presentations, but otherwise, we embrace a flexible remote work approach. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, a positive and inclusive culture, and a humane work-life balance. Interested candidates can review our work on our website:
