Job Requirements Summary
The Assistant Social Media Editor is primarily responsible for overseeing the promotion of The Daily Dot and The Kernel via social media channels, as well as reviewing analytics to track audience growth and engagement. He or she reports to the Director of Audience Engagement and works very closely with the Social Media Editor and editorial team. NOTE: This position requires the availability to work all weekends.

Roles and Responsibilities
Manages social media channels and community platforms for The Daily Dot
Manages social media channels and creates community development strategy for The Kernel, The Daily Dot’s Sunday magazine
Reviews analytics to track audience growth and engagement across social platforms.
Works with various reporters, editors, and sections across the newsroom.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications
Available to work weekends with a flexible work week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday required).
Experience with social media and accompanying tools, including Twitter and Facebook, and ideally YouTube
Skill in working as a team player
Skill in organizational and time management
Experience reporting/blogging/writing
Experience researching and using data to help make decisions
Knowledge of Internet communities, trends and memes

Desired Skills/Experience/Qualifications
Love of journalism
Experience with SocialFlow a plus
Experience using Facebook analytics a plus
