That’s why The Dallas Morning News is looking for a Digital Content Promotion Coordinator to work with the digital production staff and newsroom to improve the social promotion of editorial content. We already have a Digital Communities team that markets our content. The Digital Content Promotion Coordinator will take it to the next level, serving as an advocate for social media in the newsroom. We want someone who will empower reporters and editors, and help them promote their work in the social space. BEST practices. That’s what we’re looking for. The Digital Content Promotion Coordinator will also optimize content, rewriting those clunky headlines to land them at the top of Google’s pops. In other words: If you can get a story in front of an audience we want you.

Primary Duties

- Serve as the newsroom point-of-contact for guidance on promoting Dallas Morning News content appropriately on social media. This will include collaboration with the Digital Communities team to ensure social media strategies are properly executed and that the best data is delivered to the right newsroom journalists to generate positive results.
- Stay current on new social media trends, updates and functionality changes. - Analyze newsroom social media metrics and, in collaboration with the Digital Communities team, advise newsroom on possible adjustments or enhancements to social promotion practices.
- Using current best SEO practices, work with web production staff on dialing up the number and quality of A/B headline tests.
- Contribute to daily production of web content, section front and homepage maintenance.

Qualifications

- BBA, BA, BS Required; (Journalism or Mass Communications Preferred)
- At least three years working in a major media market, with an emphasis on web production, social promotion and web/print collaboration
- Mastery of all major social media platforms and social promotion best practices. Previous experience using Hootsuite is preferred.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and A/B headline testing concepts
- Experience with web content management systems. Experience with WordPress, Escenic Content Studio and CCi NewsGate NewsAccess preferred.
