CCTV-America in Washington DC is looking for experienced digital producers to join a rapidly growing global all-news network. The successful candidates will work well in a team environment against tight deadlines and gather content elements from multiple sources to produce for our digital platforms.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of journalism experience and digital production, along with a love of technology. We are looking for someone to create new experiences and forms of digital storytelling to match the way people consume news. And help create strategies for growing audience on our website, mobile and broadcast.
The digital producer’s primary role is to create and manage all online content for the station's digital platforms and social media. Successful candidate must demonstrate excellent news judgment and writing skills.
Manage news stories, photos, videos and interactive content for all platforms.
Keep in constant communication with newsroom staff on news events.
Monitor social media and other news sources for trends and to distinguish newsworthy stories.
React to and post breaking news quickly and accurately and remain in constant communication with the news department.
Monitor newscasts, social media trends and other sources for news and distinguish newsworthy stories for the site.
Applicants should be able to identify good stories in data and present in interesting ways to users.
Responsibilities include other duties as assigned.
Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization, interactive design, charts and infographics, audience engagement, video, photography and sound are all a plus.
BA/BS degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications or related field strongly preferred.
4+ years working experience in news digital platforms
Working knowledge of WordPress or similar content management system
Candidate must possess knowledge of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Excel and Word.
Understand the social media universe and demonstrate creativity and documented immersion in social media.
Working knowledge of non-linear editing programs Premiere or Final Cut Pro,
Working knowledge of Photoshop
Writing and editing stories for presentation on website and digital platforms
Editing the work of others for presentation on website and digital platforms
Experience creating posts for and managing multiple social media channels
SEO techniques, Google Analytics and digital trends
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and switch gears quickly
Knowledge of and interest in international news
Flexibility to work various shifts
Motivated self-starter who is able to work independently and in a team environment

CCTV America broadcasts news and talk programming from in its production facilities in Washington DC., joining our headquarters in Beijing – and our sister broadcast center in Nairobi, Kenya – in providing a comprehensive as well as balanced view of the world in which we live.
In the United States, CCTV News is seen on DISH Network Channel 279. It airs in the Washington D.C. area on Comcast 273, Cox 472, RCN 32, Verizon FiOS 277 and MHZdigital broadcast channel 30.3. Our programs include “Biz Asia America, a one hour business show. It can be seen 8-9pm from Monday through Friday US Eastern time; “The Heat”— The Heat can be seen nightly at 9:15 Mondays US eastern time on CCTV News and live streamed at http://www.cctv-america.com/livenews/ The show is seen across ASIA: China, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines at 9:15 each morning Tuesday through Saturday. “Americas Now”—a weekly news magazine program in English presenting in-depth stories about Latin America (and about Latin American culture in the U.S.). It can be seen 8-9pm on Sunday US Eastern time. Full Frame is a weekly current affairs and culture magazine show focused on human interest story-telling, cultural dialogue and creativity. The show highlights the humanitarian issues and social causes that are motivating people around the world to take action and engage with their communities. Full Frame can be seen 8-9pm on Saturday.
