Position Overview

Teaching Strategies is looking for a highly talented, innovative, and creative Senior UI (React) Engineer to join its technology team. We are looking for engineers that want to make a real impact in early childhood education. Our platform is evolving, so you need to be someone who can build new functionality and learn new technologies quickly as well as be able to maintain and extend existing code to support organizational needs.

Our Software Engineering team is responsible for building out SaaS and mobile solutions used by educational organizations across the globe. The team works on a wide variety of projects, solving existing problems and enabling new business objectives. We are growing our group by extending our technology team to continue building and improving on underlining elements of our products: from 3rd party integration layers, to SSO, to shared service development and instrumentation, and brand-new product design and implementation. We believe that great technology experts are also software generalists who are unafraid to jump up and down the stack to solve the problems that come our way. Specific Roles & Responsibilities:Develops new features, components, and modules to support organizational growthParticipates in planning, analysis, and design of new software solutionsWorks closely with Product and UX teams to translate business requirements into working productsInvestigates, troubleshoots, and remedies performance bottlenecks in the application flowLearns new technologies and keeps up with both traditional and emerging best practicesWorks independently and collaborates with other members of the team to ensure successful delivery of projectsOccasional domestic travel required for in-person team, department, and company meetingsQualifications:

8+ years of production experience in software engineering and application developmentStrong communication and listening skills; ability to communicate complex technical problems, root cause analysis, and propose solutionsStrong experience with React (16 and above), React-Query, TypeScript, and JavaScript frameworksFamiliarity with RESTful and GraphQL APIs to connect front-end applications to back-end servicesExperience developing and maintaining high-trafficked user-facing SaaS productsExperience with writing unit tests using React Testing Library and Enzyme and/or Jest/Testing LibraryWorking knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and Material UI V5 with EmotionKnowledge of UI design patterns with an emphasis on maximizing accessibilityExcellent debugging and testing skills, and interest to quickly learn new technologiesUnderstanding of high-level web concepts (media queries, accessibility, API consumption, responsiveness, etc.)Experience with Agile methodology and software developmentCommitment to following security, accessibility and performance best practicesSelf-starter with strong sense of collaboration, teamwork, and accountabilityWorking knowledge of AWSWhy Teaching Strategies
