Position Summary:

The Health Sciences Librarian Intern will be responsible for implementing metadata standards within the corporate EndNote Library. This individual will work closely with the Health Sciences Librarian and regulatory team members to ensure that best practices in metadata management are employed. The Health Sciences Intern will also be given opportunities to provide light reference services to staff. The main duties of the Health Sciences Librarian Intern are below.Work Model:

Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.

Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.

Responsibilities:Establish and apply consistent metadata standards across all journal articles, conference abstract, congresses, and other publication types.Ensure metadata can be disseminated accurately in a variety of internal documents and external publications.Employ Bramer method to deduplicate EndNote library.Facilitate meetings with regulatory staff and clinical writing staff to understand workflow and identify process gaps.Formalize and document EndNote Library metadata standards and procedures.Requirements:Pursuing a Masters's degree in a relevant field of study (eg, Library and Information Science), with minimum of first year completedEnrolled as a full-time student with plans to return to school in fall termAvailable to work 15 hours/week during normal business hoursKnowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Strong organizational skillsFlexible; adapts work style to meet organization needsMeticulous attention to detailStrong ability to follow through with tasksGood verbal communication skills: Ability to write clearly and effectivelyAbility to exercise sound judgment, reasoning, and problem solvingCapable of completing assigned responsibilities and keeping manager informed of work statusFamiliarity with EndNote or other citation management toolsUnderstanding of information retrieval practicesCoursework in metadata creation, metadata standards, and information retrievalStrong organizational skillsFlexible; adapts work style to meet organization needsMeticulous attention to detailStrong ability to follow through with tasksGood verbal communication skills: Ability to write clearly and effectivelyAbility to exercise sound judgment, reasoning, and problem solvingCapable of completing assigned responsibilities and keeping manager informed of work status
