Job Summary

The Director, Communications will lead strategies and programs in support of Optimum’s five Regional Areas. The role will report to the VP of Optimum Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement PR and internal communications strategies for Optimum’s regional leadership across 5 areas.  
  • Partner with Local Market Managers to execute communications strategies
  • Collaborate with enterprise communications colleagues to ensure local strategies are aligned with corporate strategy and goals.
  • PR Work:
    • Serve as Optimum spokesperson in the 5 Areas on local matters
    • Identify opportunities to generate local media strategies and track results for new and existing initiatives to build Optimum’s local presence and reputation
    • Field press inquiries for local activity
    • Coordinate with enterprise communications team to include local media activity in corporate / enterprise reporting and tracking
  • Internal Communications work:
    • Provide internal communications counsel and support to Optimum Market Structure leadership
    • Identify opportunities and help craft messages for local leadership to tell the Optimum story to local employees
    • Coordinate with enterprise communications team to cascade and leverage enterprise messaging and work into local internal communications
  • Travel expected in support of 5 Area General Managers
  • Plan, lead and/or advise on external and internal events both large and small for specific business units or at the enterprise level
  • Contribute new ideas and champion best practices across the entire Communications organization and the AUSA business as a whole, where appropriate.
  • Participate in the development of a thriving, inclusive culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of strategic communications/public relations experience, preferably related to media, telecommunications, technology, or consumer products and services.
  • Experience working with reporters
  • Successful track record of both managing large campaigns/programs and working with clients and/or business leaders in a counselor setting.
  • Firm understanding of best practices for modern corporate communications as it relates to the use of content, digital channels, social media etc.
  • Possess: endless curiosity about his/her craft as well as trends influencing business and culture; a can-do attitude; an appreciation for the importance of the team, a strong worth ethic; a good sense of humor.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $141,372.00 - $201,960.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
