JOB SUMMARY:The Authorization and Denials Associate assumes responsibility for maintaining a relationship with the patients, insurance carriers and managed care organizations.Working under the Appeals and Denials Manager of the Cancer Center, the Authorization and Denials Associate will: screen & authorize all patient treatments as required by specific payer, screen all outside ordering physicians for treatment authorizations and contacts offices in advance when authorization has expired or required. Maintain proficiency in registration process, patient screening process, billing requirements and claims. Researches denials upon request from manager. Coordinates with pharmacy on drug replacement to ensure free drug or specialty drug are removed from claim or rebilled with adjusted claim. Ability to screen patients on treatment for potential financial assistance with a coordinated co-pay assistance program.Covers Appeals and Denials Manager, when applicable.EDUCATION:High School diploma requiredREQUIREMENTS:Experience with medical billing preferredPrevious medical office experience mandatoryKnowledge of computer programsSuccessful completion of all required orientation programsCPAR certification preferredRWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer
