WMUR-TV, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH has an opening for an Associate Producer. You will assist producers in all aspects of producing a newscast. This will include writing stories, creating graphics, researching information, and using and editing video. Associate Producers also make phone calls to gather information about stories. In addition to writing for our broadcasts, our associate producers are also assigned to write/post stories and video daily to our website and mobile app and social media sites. You will report to the Executive Producer and will be put on a path to become a newscast producer. This is a wonderful opportunity if you are looking to get your foot in the door and get started in a career in journalism.

Responsibilities

  • Write scripts, create graphics and edit video for daily newscasts 
  • Assist producers, reporters and assignment editors with research
  • Collaborate with assignment editors, producers, reporters, photographers, editors, digital staff, production staff and news managers
  • Understand social media and be able to produce content on all digital platforms
  • Make follow up calls and beat calls
  • In-person attendance required

Requirements

  • Familiarity with social media
  • Writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines
  • Related military experience will be considered
