Role Summary

The Market Leader Vice President is the leader of the market and drives overall accountability and results for the market. Key focus areas include understanding the competitive awareness, driving new business development, investing in our employees and communities and achieving overall market results. The Market VP provides a strong partnership with Field Operations in the regional markets they serve by leveraging a cross-functional view of the business to help ensure that the Cox markets provide a strong customer and employee experiences. The Market Vice President works with cross-functional stakeholders across all levels of management and in the community to identify, design and implement operational improvements, drive performance to meet r exceed financial and customer targets and engage and motivate employees around the gals and objective of the company.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

The Market Vice President is a business partner, collaborator, and contributor to the functional teams' success in the region, helping to solve local issues and enabling and supporting team cohesion to drive business results. As an advocate for the region/market, the Market Vice President provides organizational and functional leaders with key insights and inroads to drive business growth. The Market Vice President is expected to:

  • Ensure alignment between cross-functional region and center reporting teams to keep the business and people connected within the market.
    • Facilitate dialogue among functional leaders to ensure collaboration and alignment of company efforts within the market.
    • Provide critical input and feedback to ensure Senior Region Leaders stay informed about the competitive, operational, and economic realities of the market.
  • Lead Competitive Intelligence
    • Drive awareness of new and ongoing competitive threats. Recommend market specific competitive responses.
    • Proactively engage with public policy, elected, and regulatory leaders to advocate for Cox interests to leverage opportunities and mitigate risks in the changing broadband landscape, including all public funding sources.
  • Drive Business Development
    • Partner with Cox departments and Divisions to understand current risks and opportunities while incorporating future business plans to develop solutions that align with the vison and overarching strategic plan.
    • Execute on the Market Expansion outreach program with a focus on communities of interest related to broadband expansion.
    • Support the development of grant RFPs by providing local intel, insights, and/or formal signatures of partnerships as needed.
  • Champion Cox Customer Experience
    • Act as the voice of the customer and have a deep understanding of and partnership with the community.
    • Partner with Senior Region Leaders to help all market-based employees understand their role in creating the Cox Experience.
  • Champion Cox Employee Experience
    • Lead employee development and engagement in the market and drive Cox values internally.
    • Drive a culture of safety in the market.
    • Maintain positive employee engagement and labor relations by ensuring open and direct communication with employees and that functional teams are operating in alignment with the company's core values.
    • Partner with HR and Functional Leaders on union avoidance initiatives. Serve as POC for the market when organizing campaigns and efforts occur.
  • Champion of Cox Values, Brand, and Community Engagement
    • Be the face and voice of the Company in the community through participation in in community, civic, and business organizations. Establish, support, and leverage positive company relationships to grow the business.
    • Own Cox engagement on strategic boards of directors in the market to drive business development, influence policy, and defend the core.
    • Partner with Government and Public Affairs on overall community, government, and regulatory strategy.
    • Brand Cox as employer of choice through external brand management
    • Serve as Cox leadership in the market in key media opportunities, in front of elected officials, governing agencies, their staff, as well as with community, education and non-profit partners.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree plus 14+ years' experience in a related field. Alternatively, MS degree plus 12 years' experience, or a Ph.D. plus 9 years' experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in a leadership role
  • Requires strong practioner of collaboration and matrix management
  • Excellent community relations, interpersonal, leadership, an executive presence and strong, demonstrated collaborative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in various functions related to Public or Government Affairs with knowledge of legislative, governmental and regulatory processes
  • Ability to define, monitor and analyze information utilizing strong critical thinking skills.


Preferred

  • BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired; MBA preferred
  • Experience in telecommunications industry desired
  • 5-7 years progressive managerial experience in transferrable disciplines (e.g. information systems, data center operations, network equipment and protocols, and telecommunication technology)

USD 189,100.00 - 315,100.00

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $189,100.00 - $315,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
