Local News Chief Photographer

40/29, the ABC affiliate in Rogers is looking for a Chief Photographer with the ability to capture the essence of what's happening in the field, and then bring it vividly into the homes of our viewers. As Chief Photographer, you have excellent video storytelling and editing skills at all levels and the highest journalistic standards. In this leadership role, you will be a mentor to your staff, and you must also be technically up-to-date on the most modern aspects of the television medium for training purposes. You will report to News Director.

Responsibilities

  • Train, manage, evaluate and help develop a team of video journalists
  • Manage news gathering equipment and fleet of vehicles
  • Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs and packages for Broadcast Air and Online postings
  • Ensure our look and sound are among the best in the market
  • Collaborate with the Assignment Desk and work with Reporters to cover daily stories
  • Gather video and still pictures to further enhance coverage on our digital platforms
  • Work with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered
  • Work with producers to ensure their creative vision is accomplished with vivid video and natural sound
  • Coordinate incoming video elements from crews in the field
  • Oversee video library and support archive digitization
  • Will produce and publish content to our online platforms

Requirements

  • Prior management experience required
  • Previous newsroom experience required
  • Excellent managerial skills
  • Carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
  • Efficient operation on ENG trucks and all news gathering equipment
  • Can work in all weather conditions
  • Can operate large vehicles, must have a valid driver's license and a near-perfect driving record
  • Operate digital editing tools, including Adobe editing software
  • Can organize and prioritize
  • Related military experience will be considered
