Controls Software Designer, Robotics

to join our growing Engineering Team in

Rock Hill, SC . Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, the Controls Engineer will be responsible for various duties involving design of control software, integration of software with electrical and mechanical systems, process development and machine installation at customer sites worldwide.

The Controls Software Designer job responsibilities may include but are not limited to :

Design and develop robotics control software programs specific to customers and project requirements based on standard Eclipse programming methods.Debug and commission control systems at our facility, during the system integration stage and then at the customer's site during installation.Travel as required to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning, and training duties.Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems and lasers.Generate Robot Simulations to ensure that robot reach, and cycle times can be achieved.Work with other members of the control systems design department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, with the goals being enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost.Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a complete, functional automation system.Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software program completeness.Provide accurate documentation for each project.Advise customers on solving technical problems.Provide customers with training specific to their current project (i.e. machine operation, programming principles and program structure).These responsibilities are subject to change as a function of the individual's abilities.Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Code of Business Conduct.Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.Qualifications:

3+ years PLC programming experience combined with a minimum of 1-year proven robot programming and electrical problem-solving skills is a must have.Experience using Fanuc, Epson, and Kawasaki in robotics is preferred.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.Experience with either RS Logix/Studio 5000 or TIA Portal software platform would be desirableUnderstanding of vision applications and Robotic vision guidance would be desirable.What's In It for YOU?The Eclipse team is 900+ strong, working out of 17 locations across 5 countries and 3 continents.
