This position will be overseeing the Main Library, the Boulder Library's largest location, located in the heart of downtown.

Job Summary:

The Main Library Manager leads the Main Library in planning, directing, and managing Patron Services. Manages the daily operations and Adult Services activities of the Main Library and the café by providing values-based leadership, excellent customer service, ongoing training, personnel management, and strategic planning. The manager collaborates with colleagues and community partners to make library services more accessible and to provide a safe environment inside our library.

This is a 40-hour per week, exempt role.

Essential Functions:Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and terminates staff. Evaluates staff performance and provides coaching and additional training as needed. (25%)Evaluates and revises workgroup processes to improve efficiency and service to patrons. (20%)Manages, supervises, and supports the Main Library Café and baristas to provide 7 day a week operation. This includes support for hiring, scheduling, and coaching of the barista staff and vendors. Assists as needed with supply ordering, health inspections, and back-up coverage in the café. (20%)Supports a safe and secure Main Library for staff and patrons by administering the Security Contract and high-level relationship management. Responsible for internal security processes and policies update. Communicates changes to relevant staff. (15%)Oversee the expansion of services directed at adults including technology classes, one-on-one and maintains procedural documentation. (10%)Oversee the expansion of services directed at adults including technology classes, one-on-one assistance, and other areas of need. (10%)Additional Responsibilities:

Performs in-depth research for patrons and staff in person at a public service desk, by referral from other library staff, and by telephone or online, including information searches in periodicals, books, databases, e-books, the Internet and any other available information sources.Monitors program and miscellaneous expenses to stay within the budget.Attends meetings, serves on library-wide committees and projects, and participates in professional development opportunities.Resolves challenging situations with patrons.Health and Wellness Benefits

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Education and experience:

Master's degree in library and information science and three years of experience working in a public library including two years of progressive responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of supervisory experience and experience conducting performance evaluations.Technical experience:

Demonstrated experience using automated library systems. Proficiency with MS Office suite, social media, downloadable media, and library databases and software.Preferred Qualifications:

Spanish language skills and/or experience working with patrons from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.One year of experience assisting with the management of a branch library or department.Demonstrated experience using Sierra integrated library system.Experience working in a team management environment.

Working Conditions:

Works both in an office environment and in spaces open to the public. Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard. Requires sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate computer office, and library equipment. Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 20 pounds. Seeing, hearing, and speaking required.

Hiring Range: $34.12 to $37.96
