Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITIONThe Communication Center Specialist is responsible for receiving incoming radio calls from EMS personnel. The Specialist is responsible for triaging local EMS traffic, communicating to receiving locations and directing EMS to the appropriate facility. This individual will operate radio base equipment including transmitting and receiving emergency messages. The Specialist will communicate availability of air transportation. Additionally, the Specialist will monitor ED tracking board with constant focus on bed availability and "alerts." The Specialist will monitor radio for current community emergencies (i.e. MVA, gunshot wounds, etc.) and shares information with appropriate team members including Trauma Team, security, etc. This individual will maintain written logs, files and EMR in prescribed manner. The Specialist will provide updates regarding ETA and condition of referral/scene patient to appropriate unit/ED. In addition, the Specialist will support the activities of the Regional Medical Communications Center for EMS region 1 in NE TN including comprehensive drills and data processing.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSee Table of Organization.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCETwo years experience in EMS or hospital setting preferred. Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio, and telephone operation preferred.EMT certification preferredAHA BLS required
