DescriptionWe are looking to fill a Principal UX designer role for an org whose mission is to help Amazons Alexa customers stay informed, discover new content, and take actions with minimal effort on their part; ensuring that every customer interaction saves them time and adds value. We do this by anticipating customers needs, proactively delivering personalized suggestions in a delightful way, and augmenting conversations with relevant visual content across multiple digital end-points. This role is part of wider Amazons Artificial Generalized Intelligence (AGI) business org.This org is looking for a Principal UX Designer to help envision and deliver the next generation of AI and LLM powered proactive experiences. In the emerging space, proactivity plays a critical role in introducing customers to generative AI and making conversational experiences approachable to a wide range of customers. The ideal candidate is able to identify undefined opportunities and shape an intuitive strategy for engaging customers in new experiences which save time and effort. This role will lead through the work and requires a candidate who is comfortable with all stages of the product lifecycle; from early generative research to initial product definition, from white boarding new interaction models to creating directional prototypes. From pitching new concepts to internal and external stakeholders to testing new concepts with customers.A successful candidate will have an excellent track-record of designing and delivering high-quality, cross-device productswith a diverse portfolio including examples of mobile, tablet, and web. The candidate will lead the Design and Research in the area of proactive communication and Multimodal Conversational Experiences.Key job responsibilitiesLead high priority design projects that are often ambiguous and complex in nature in cross-domain scenariosAs a hands-on design leader, you define frameworks and methodologies to scale design; you drive adoption across teamsStrategically balance trade-offs between competing priorities. Apply flexibility to creating solutions which meet the needs of the team, partners, and productsFoster a customer-obsessed design culture by sharing best practices, evangelizing design principles and influencing product strategyDefine, develop and socialize a clear vision for design innovation and big thinking while not sacrificing speed of deliveryProvide leadership and design direction, influencing across teams and giving thoughtful, detailed and actionable design feedbackPromote collaboration and facilitate communication with stakeholders at all levels and across diverse disciplines and geographiesWork cross-functionally to drive intuitive design solutions from early concept through final implementation and iterationUse data and customer insights to confidently share design solutions with senior leadersUse systems-level design thinking to drive design solutions that scale to support many multimodal and proactive use casesPresent design work to executive leadership and other senior stakeholdersWe are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Bellevue, WA, USA | Irvine, CA, USA | Seattle, WA, USABasic Qualifications- 10+ years of design experience- Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design- Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution- Mastery of design thinking methodologies and workshop facilitation- Experience providing and communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data- Experience with interactive prototyping tools (Figma, Principal, Framer, etc)- Expertise in FigmaPreferred Qualifications- Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data- Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVisionAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $131,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
