THE POSITIONThe Infrastructure and Economic Development Information Technology Delivery Center is seeking a hardworking scientific and technical student for the 2024 Summer Employment Program! Join our team and make a meaningful impact on our understanding of the world through geospatial data!

DESCRIPTION OF WORKWe are seeking a talented and enthusiastic GIS Intern to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of GIS, from data collection and analysis to map creation and visualization. You will work closely with experienced GIS professionals and contribute to projects that have real-world impact.Responsibilities:Collect, process, and manage spatial data using various tools and techniques, including Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, and ESRI ArcGIS.

Perform spatial analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and relationships within spatial data.

Create informative and visually appealing maps, charts, and other GIS products.

Develop and maintain GIS databases and web applications.

Support GIS projects across a variety of departments and initiatives.

Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in GIS.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time paid internship.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:You must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.You mut be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).You must be least 18 years of age.Additional Requirements:This position requires a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.Strong understanding of GIS concepts and principles.Experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, and ESRI ArcGIS.Familiarity with spatial analysis techniques.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.How to Apply:Resumes, cover letters, and similar documents will
