Overview

The User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) CSS Developer will play a pivotal role in the success of EIM's mission with our University Partner (UP) and Post Professional (PP) Stakeholders. The person in this role will elevate and transform EIM's curriculum delivery experience by researching and integrating technology to enhance the faculty and student experience. The UI/UX CSS Developer will report to the Ed Tech & Innovation Manager and will provide direct and indirect support to EIM Curriculum Teams, UP faculty, and Subject Matter Experts (SME). In collaboration with EIM Curriculum Managers and UP Stakeholders, the UI/UX CSS Developer will help shape the design and processes for curriculum and content development, management, and delivery across academic disciplines. The UI/UX CSS Developer is an active participant in decisions related to incorporating hybrid learning design to ensure that experiences meet the specifications of the degree program and adhere to institutional expectations for rigor, quality, and scalability.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):

Assist Ed Tech & Innovation manager in managing EIM's Educational Technology Systems.Maintain the library of course designs within EIM's Content Management System.Conceptualize, develop, and test coded UI/UX templates of branded designs.Provide timely, efficient, and quality UX design solutions.Plan instructional support project requirements, timelines, updates and deadlines in collaboration with Curriculum team.Manage and track instructional design projects through completion and ensure projects meet EIM Post Professional and/or University Partner accessibility and design standards for quality and innovation.Monitor trends in UI development and advocate technology standards and best practice in hybrid online education.Plan, scope and conduct relevant testing of new features with our Curriculum Team and faculty.Promote the curriculum and instructional design expertise provided by our Curriculum team in the development and support of academic courses.Develop and provide training and training materials, including online tutorials and other multimedia materials, to assist faculty with online teaching and learning tools.Foster technological innovation by remaining abreast of trends in the hybrid education industry and exploring new technology platforms to enhance the student experience.Develop and implement user-friendly and responsive User Interfaces (UI) using cutting-edge technologies and frameworks like React.js.Collaborate with the design team to understand and translate UI/UX design requirements into functional interfaces.Integrate with various external APIs to fetch and exchange data with third-party applications and services.Implement client-side data validation and error handling to ensure a seamless user experience.Utilize the LTI 1.3 standard to develop and integrate with Learning Management Systems (LMSs) for seamless integration and interoperability.Implement Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality and ensure secure and authenticated communication with LMSs.Optimize and maintain UI components for maximum performance across different devices and browsers.Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to continuously improve the UI/UX of the application.Collaborate with back-end developers to define and implement RESTful endpoints for data exchange.Debug and resolve front-end issues and performance bottlenecks, ensuring a smooth user experience.Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in front-end development and UI/UX design.

Qualifications

Key QualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of instructional system design and curriculum developmentMinimum 3 years of experience in online course design and developmentExperience using learning management systems (i.e. Canvas, Brightspace, Blackboard, or equivalent)Demonstrated experience in using technologies to design student-centered learning materials in a digital learning environmentDemonstrated knowledge of learning theories, instructional theories, instructional design theory and practice, best practices in teaching and learningA portfolio of professional UI/UX design work for both web and mobile platformsAbility to thrive in a diversified work environment with varying levels of ambiguityAbility to establish effective working relationships with senior management and key external relationshipsProven ability to successfully manage competing projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong proficiency in front-end web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.Extensive experience with React.js and its core principles, as well as popular state management libraries like Redux.Proficiency in integrating with RESTful APIs and working with JSON data.Familiarity with LTI 1.3 standard and experience developing LTI integrations with Learning Management Systems (LMSs).Solid understanding of UI/UX design principles and the ability to translate design requirements into functional interfaces.Experience with implementing Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality and secure authentication protocols.Knowledge of responsive web design and the ability to optimize UI components for various devices and browsers.Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills to identify and resolve front-end issues and performance bottlenecks.Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers and back-end developers.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.Continual learning mindset to stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in front-end development and UI/UX design.

Preferred:Master's degree in Instructional Design or Instructional Technology and 1-3 years of instructional system design and curriculum development
