Texicare, a pioneering health insurance startup committed to revolutionizing healthcare coverage for small businesses and their employees, is seeking a Senior UI/UX Engineer to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about creating intuitive user experiences and have a keen eye for design, this is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of health insurance. We anticipate this role will be about 60% design work and 40% development and this is a senior level position.

The Senior UI/UX Engineer will be instrumental in leading the design and development efforts of user-facing web applications, ensuring they are visually compelling, user-friendly, and highly functional. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, full stack engineers, and stakeholders you will champion design decisions and drive the prototyping of new website designs. Your contributions will directly impact the member, employer, and broker experiences, enhancing our ability to provide top-tier services.
Primary Responsibilities:· Contribute significantly to the design, development, and implementation of visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for web applications. Ensure consistent and effective user experiences across various platforms and devices.· Develop front end components using modern web technologies, including React 18, Next.js, TypeScript, and Material UI.· Serve as the primary voice in all front-end design decisions, ensuring alignment with user needs and business objectives.· Collaborate with Full Stack Engineers to translate wireframes and prototypes into visually stunning and intuitive user interfaces.· Implement responsive design principles to ensure seamless user experiences across various devices and screen sizes.· Champion best practices for accessibility, performance, and maintainability in front end development.· Stay up to date with emerging design trends and technologies to continuously enhance the visual appeal and usability of our applications.
Required Qualifications:· 5-7 years prior UX/UI design experience or design driven Front-End Engineering.· Strong visual design background - pixel perfect mockups are right in your wheelhouse.· Strong skills in programming languages, modern UI frameworks and advanced CSS techniques such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Material UI.· Passion for designing and building with accessibility, internationalization, adaptive UI, responsive design, and other core UX considerations.· Experience with component-based user interface development, with a focus on creating composable and reusable UI elements.· Experience with prototyping tools such as Figma or Sketch.· Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:· Portfolio demonstrating expertise in high fidelity product design and user experience methodologies.· Familiarity with front-end testing frameworks, the value they provide, and how to write effective tests.· Knowledge of front-end build tools and workflows, such as Webpack and Babel.· Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.· Experience taking on broad new challenges at a startup.· Experience with agile development methodologies.· Passion for healthcare and interest in contributing to the improvement of health insurance services.
