We cover a big piece of Americas #1 market as part of a network of seven newsrooms in the NY/NJ/Ct region servicing an audience of more than 4.5 million. The station covers both  Brooklyn and Bronx.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically lead, inspire and manage the news department
  • Work closely with the news team to produce high-quality, relevant, local content that sets the station apart from competitors
  • Prioritize collaboration between television and OTT, digital content teams, along with marketing, to create original programming and breaking news coverage for all platforms
  • Emphasize the importance of solid research to build credibility
  • Use consumer analytics to determine content
  • Lead a culture that owns enterprise reporting and breaking news across all content platforms
  • Inspire and coach superior, unique and engaging storytelling

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 10+ years in journalism, including 8+ in television news
  • 5+ years in television management with superior news judgment and an audience focused strategic approach 
  • An unwavering commitment to watch, read and evaluate multi-platform performance.
  • Understanding budgeting and the economics of a news station 
  • Experience with programming and production budgets
  • Ability to manage a fast moving,high pressure newsroom environment
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, provide clear accountabilities and improve work culture 
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, leadership, communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills along with coaching and training skills
  • on-air talent evaluation, coaching and motivation.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $161,186.00 - $230,265.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
