JOB SUMMARY:

The Jr. Web Designer and Photographer creates high-impact designs intended to engage, attract, and communicate the story of Southern Seminary and support Southern Seminary and Boyce College through photography and photo editing, and video editing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:

Graphic Design: 60%Responsible for design, layout, formatting of materials and final art/pre-productionDesigns may integrate typographic, photographic, illustrative and other elementsCoordinates with the Production Manager in the pre-production stage and provides press ready files of all assigned projectsProvide creative contribution to advertising and marketing materialsResponsible for design, layout, and formatting for marketing landing pages on sbts.edu and boycecollege.comCollaborate with Web Services team to provide design support for seminary websitesCollaborate with Design Team by integrating design and photography in artistic concepts for various projects including viewbooks, print and digital advertisements, Southern Seminary Magazine, and event brandingPhotography: 40%

Support the Creative team by providing high quality photographic assets for use in various institutional print and digital projectsDevelop or acquire the images used in a variety of creative projects including advertisements, brochures, catalogs, direct mail, corporate identity, packaging, presentations, websites, promotional displays and signageShoot portraits of faculty, staff, students, sports teams and other organizations as needed

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION:

The person in this position will ideally have graphic design education, but specific formal education is not required. A candidate should, however, have knowledge of creative software applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), clear understanding of typographic principles, and a high proficiency in design fundamentals such as layout, typography, color, etc.

EXPERIENCE:

The person in this position should have at least one year of experience as a graphic designer and some experience with professional photography.
