The Contemplative Sciences Center (CSC) is seeking a dynamic Social Media and Marketing Associate. The ideal candidate will handle development and execution of social media strategies to elevate CSC's online presence and engagement; broaden awareness of its programming and activities; and enhance its brand. This role also supports the digital marketing of the Contemplative Sciences Center's events and projects across the UVA community and to the public (Including Dalai Lama Fellows, Contemplative Commons Student Advisors, Journal of Contemplative Studies, and Compassionate Schools Project).

CSC creates a warm inclusive work environment. We are a small, collaborative, and highly adaptive team. As such, all team members occasionally work outside parameters of job description to facilitate center growth.

Minimum RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: At least three years of experience.

Proven experience in developing and executing social media strategies across major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).

Excellent writing and communications skills including the ability to craft engaging content.

Ability to work with and identify with student populations (18-22 year olds)

Ability and strong desire to video interview students; ability to translate into social media-ready video pieces

Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.

Experience with graphic design or Canva, photo cropping, and video editing software.

Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Adept at developing and managing social media content for public relations or marketing purposes; and understands the difference between personal and professional brand voice

Support event marketing including, but not limited to, drafting and creating invitations, event collateral, graphics and SWAG

Excellent time management

Ability to take initiative

Excellent internet service and availability required for work and online meetings

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree Marketing, Communications, or related field.

Experience with contemplative practices such as mindfulness, meditation, etc.

Familiarity with SEO principles and best practices

Previous experience in a similar role within the marketing or advertising industry.

This position is Hybrid located in Charlottesville, VA.

This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated Salary $55,000-$60,000 commensurate with education and experience.
