GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Mandatory:

A bachelor's degree with five years of experience preferably in journalism, communications, technology, or a related field. A strong understanding of basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript concepts Experience with Wordpress, both CMS and theme/plugin development Basic experience with managed hosting servers like WPEngine, GoDaddy, BlueHost, etc. Experience with a Wordpress page builder such as Divi or Elementor Experience with version control through Git Some experience with React.js Expertise in tools and resources to integrate web analytics and campaign functionality into all digital marketing efforts. Demonstrated ability to plan, conceptualize and implement web content that includes a broad range of elements. Deadline-oriented, organized, multi-tasking work habits with a commitment to accuracy and consistency. Understanding of emergency communication that demands an "on-call" flexible schedule. Customer service-oriented and skilled in working across department lines.

Desirable:

Master's degree in instructional design or web-related field. Previous experience with web content management. Previous experience in a community college or higher education environment. Understanding of search engine optimization strategies and web analytics. Graphic design, photography, or video production skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

1.Supervise Digital Designer

2. Create/develop/tune content from marketing and communications and other departments for online use.

3. Serve as the marketing and communications division liaison who collaborates with the Digital Designer on content, media and distribution.

4. Serve on the Hinds Alert implementation team and be "on call" to assist in emergency communication responsibilities.

5. Generate reports, including search engine optimization that record website traffic and make recommendations for improvement.

6. Support the digital marketing process by integrating web analytic data, including prospect and customer targeting, testing strategies, tracking and measurement.

7. Participate in the development of the college marketing plan(s) and work with marketing and enrollment services to maximize the marketing and recruitment potential of the college website.

8. Work to ensure easy accessibility to a wide audience, as well as keeping content meaningful to the specific target audience.

9. Ensure that widespread HCC communications policies and practices are maintained by verifying the accuracy and timeliness of content, and validating the appropriateness and quality of content.

10. Develop and communicate standards for web content. Work with owners of web content areas to ensure that standards are met and that content is accurate and up-to-date and meets the needs of visitors to the Hinds CC website(s).

11. Assist in the management of the Marketing and Communications digital photo archive system.

12. Draft, review, edit and coordinate appropriate communications regarding the activities and services of the Hinds website(s).

13. Work in coordination with the Digital Designer and contract vendor(s) on the design and construction of web pages including graphic design, navigational design and page layout.

14. Develop, implement and evaluate annual goals as directed.

15. Maintain a leading-edge understanding of website management, social media, information architecture, user experience, metrics, as well as web technologies, best practices and possibilities.

16. Assist with special events and projects as assigned by the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.

17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications or the appropriate authority.
