Truss Designer Job DescriptionThis company is looking for a detail-oriented Truss Designer to create truss layouts and designs for residential and agricultural projects. As a Truss Designer, you must be creative and efficient in understanding customers’ needs and applying that information to truss layouts/designs. You should be talented at reading and understanding floor plans as drawn by customers, and collaborating closely with fellow designers, salesmen, and customers to create detailed truss layouts to be used by home builders in the construction process.
What you will do as a Truss Designer:Read and interpret architectural and structural blueprintsUtilize Alpine truss design software to layout and design trusses according to specifications and customer needsCommunicate with salesmen and customers to gather additional information and solve problems as they arise
What you need to be a Truss Designer:High school diploma/GED2+ years’ experience in the wood-frame construction industryKnowledge of drafting, architectural design, structural engineering, or CAD applicationsExperience in the construction industrySkilled in drafting, reading, and interpreting blueprintsStrong math, computer, and organizational skillsComprehensive knowledge of roof and floor systemFamiliarity with construction engineering fundamentals and wood structures
