The individual must be able to work closely with diverse staff in all areas of the GW Libraries and Academic Innovation, follow through on assigned tasks, be observant and follow up on outstanding work, be creative and able to take responsible initiative as well as remain open to expanding skills.

Reporting to the Coordinator for Public Services Strategic Initiatives and Assessment, the Library Operations Associate will:

Manage all loading dock activities which include: maintaining secure access to Gelman Library, sorting and distributing mail and packages to staff throughout the library & picking up outgoing mail, meet delivery personnel throughout the day such as FedEx, UPS, couriers, as well as movers, caterers, furniture or construction crews.

Maintain timely, relevant, and effective communication with GW libraries staff, GW Facilities Services, GW Housekeeping Services, UPD, Risk Management, Transportation, Telecommunications, GWorld Office, contractors, and vendors, to ensure Library facilities are clean, safe, and secure.

Serve as point of contact for GW Facilities to coordinate building repair projects and preventative maintenance within Gelman Library.

Coordinate vendor activity related to building improvements that do not come through GW facilities.

Perform daily walkthroughs to monitor the conditions of the building. Identify problems such as leaks, spills, and electrical, elevator, or mechanical failures. Respond to trouble reports submitted by library personnel. Follow established procedures and escalation protocols to report problems to GW facilities and track the progress of work orders.

Reset student furniture and clean upholstered furniture.

Support events by arranging furniture and equipment according to event requirements.

Communicate effectively with library staff and patrons to inform them of building-related projects.

Assist library personnel with ongoing stacks maintenance work.

Perform other duties as assigned, the omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are related to the position.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Typical Hiring Range

$51,455.52 - $70,708.76
