Job Summary

Hearts & Bones Rescue (“HBR”) is seeking a part-time Social Media Coordinator (20 hrs/week) to join our passionate team, dedicated to saving the lives of shelter dogs in need and uniting them with loving adopters. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foster-based rescue with dual bases in Dallas, TX and New York City. We rescue approximately 1,000 dogs from overcrowded shelters each year, thanks to an incredible network of rescue partners, fosters, volunteers, and a small but mighty full-time staff!We are looking for a creative and analytical social media professional to join our team and help grow our impact through thoughtful storytelling and digital strategy. The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for the social media and content strategy at the rescue. Key responsibilities include overseeing our successful social media channels and creating and implementing campaigns to highlight varied aspects of our mission. A successful candidate will possess a strong independent work ethic, boundless creativity, a sense of humor, an inclusive and open-minded attitude, and of course be totally dog crazy!Responsibilities:

Develop and deploy creative tactics and campaigns via digital platforms to engage and grow our community, and further our rescue missionManage all social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) including planning schedule, creating posts, monitoring, and day-to-day community managementCreate, edit, and post short-form content on all platformsAnalyze and report on metrics and impact of our digital platforms, optimizing for reach and engagementRecruit and oversee a teams of volunteers including:Social media volunteers to assist with social postsPhotographersStay up to date on the latest trends in marketing and social media, emerging technologies, and nonprofit communicationsThis job description does not necessarily cover every task or duty that might be assigned. There may be additional responsibilities assigned as necessary.​Requirements:

Expert in social media strategy, trends and best practices, including Instagram, Facebook and TikTokA skilled storyteller, both through visual media and compelling copywriting, including creating and posting short-form contentWillingness to travel to obtain content for dogs needing transport

- the role is mostly remote but requires some in-person NYC-area workStrong independent work ethic, with the ability to drive strategy and accomplish tasks with little or no supervisionStrong written communication, including the ability to write clear and compelling marketing copyA great eye for content and basic photography skillsA customer first attitude and the ability to interact with adopters and fosters in a professional and kind manner, even in high pressure situationsFamiliarity with dog adoption and fostering​2-5 years experience in the marketing fieldAbility to work flexible hours, including weekendsMust love dogs! Experience in non-profit marketing, particularly in the animal welfare spaceAbility to handle dogs of varying sizes and temperamentsVideo editing experienceBasic graphic design skillsVolunteer management experienceExperience with Mailchimp, AirTable, website management, and/or social managementAbility to foster dogs in your home
