Job Description
A highly visible part time customer service position that is responsible for obtaining surgical and diagnostic authorizations on behalf of the hospital and its physicians. The Patient Access Specialist is an expert in areas of customer service, registration, insurance, and Standards of Care. The Patient Access Specialist is expected to score in the top 5% of measureable categories within 6 months of hire.
Obtain authorizations for surgical and radiology proceduresVerify insurance and obtain benefitsCommunicate with physician offices regarding status of authorizationsCollect payments for inpatient and ambulatory proceduresRequest and deliver estimates for hospital services prior to serviceJob qualifications include:
High school diploma (required)1+ year(s) prior authorization experience (required)EPIC emr experience (required)Strong insurance experienceSuperior written and oral communication skillsExceptional customer service skillsAbility to multi-taskAbility to work in a team environmentKnowledge of healthcare and health insuranceFamiliarity with medical terminologyDisplays positive attitudes towards assignments and others
