The Data Analytics and Visualization team is comprised of data scientists also equipped with the knowledge of R&D science. Quite simply, we evolve science with data. We partner our R&D scientists to build and advance solutions that make discovering and developing medicines better. In this role, youll be responsible for:
As a Data Scientist at AbbVie, you will be responsible for advancing the way we capture, analyze, calculate and visualize scientific data. To do this effectively, strong communication skills will be crucial for collaboration, scientific engagement and training. Excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills are needed to identify the right solution and troubleshoot workflows. Building solutions such as dashboards, visualizations, and analyses will require strong technical skills and experience with analytics platforms (Spotfire, PowerBI, Qlikview, or Tableau).

Tools and skills you will use in this role:Clear interpersonal communication, proofreading, editing, and formatting skillsProblem-solving and quantitative skillsStrong technical capabilities to build dashboards, visualizations, and analyses using standard tool sets (Spotfire, Power BI, Qlikview, Tableau)Experiences that make you a strong candidate for this role:
Required:
Bachelors Degree equivalent education and typically 5 years of experience, Masters Degree or equivalent education and typically 4 years of experience.Knowledge of statistical and data mining techniquesSQL skills (basic queries, table creation, views, and reporting)Python or RProficiency in data flow/architecture and ETLDemonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectivelyBeneficial:
Background in life sciences or work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.Working knowledge of drug discovery process and bioassay analysisExperience with pipeline software (RapidMiner, Knime, Pipeline Pilot)Familiarity with GitHub or other version control toolsIf you believe youre a great fit for this job but dont have all of the experiences listed above, we encourage you to apply anyway!
