The Deals & Promotions team is on a mission to elevate the shopping experience by earning loyalty and trust of millions of customers world-wide. As the UX Design Manager you will lead a team of UX designers to create simple, fluid, and engaging experiences that help customers discover and purchase the best Deals & Promotions across Amazon. You have a passion for inspiring and developing high-performing UX teams. You possess an inventor’s spirit, highly refined aesthetic sensibilities and a fine-tuned ability to contextually communicate the right thing in the right place at the right time to customers and stakeholders. You are obsessed about the customer experience; you never settle for good enough, and continually inspire those around you to do better for the customer. You love to dive into unknown territory and invent simple, elegant solutions to complex challenges. Your work will focus on mobile first, but you should be passionate about expanding features to create true multi-device experiences that move with the customer from one device to another.

Key job responsibilities

As a UX Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading with your team to set strategic direction, apply empowering and growth-minded operations, and uphold high quality standards across multiple, complex products and programs within the organization. In your day-to-day, you will be expected to:

• Nurture a team of designers to deliver high quality end-to-end experiences (user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity visuals) through clear direction, insisting on high standards, and attention to detail

• Present durable, objective points-of-view to senior leaders, executives, product teams, and the broader organization that persuade and inspire teams to take concerted, informed actions

• Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer in a corporate environment; fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, technology and business

• Identify and drive forward opportunities to align, simplify, connect, and empower experiences across retail teams and organizations

• Analyze customer behaviors, identify opportunities to solve problems, and create cohesive, best-in-class experiences to our most challenging and high impact areas

• Contribute to the growth of our design culture by improving team practices, elevating design understanding, supporting hiring, and driving designers’ career development

A day in the life

You will lead and collaborate with North America Store UX members and central teams world-wide to craft beautiful and usable customer experiences at scale. Leveraging market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings, you will create designs that address your customers' problems at their level of need. From conception to completion, you will drive the end-to-end UX design process, uncover strategies and opportunities, and present them to stakeholders for approval.

Basic Qualifications

6+ years of design experience

3+ years of leading design teams experience

Experience managing teams

Experience leading design teams in problem definition, artifact rendering, cross-functional collaboration and delivery, and user validation and measurement

Experience working cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from product management, engineering, testing, and marketing

Proficient in tools such as Figma or Sketch for designing, prototyping concepts and for defining and documenting the user interface architecture (UI patterns, components and guidelines)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing mobile web or on-device mobile applications

Experience designing software for end users or enterprise customers

Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and interaction design, user-centered design process

Knowledge of user experience principles and techniques

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
